Celise Gibson is a proud Wadjigan women of the Batjamalh language group. She is an artist, academic and researcher, located in Meanjin (Brisbane).

Her great grandmother is Margaret (Maggie) Rivers ‘Queen of Bulgul’. Maggie was an advocate and activist in the Northern Territory for the ongoing rights of Aboriginal people through her work on the Kenbi land claim and for the rights of our Mob and country Bulgul.

Celise is currently completing her PhD in Creative Practice at the Queensland University of Technology asserting the Sovereign studio practices of contemporary Aboriginal artists.

She holds a Bachelor of Creative Industries (Visual Arts) and a Masters of Arts (Research) from the Queensland University of Technology.
